‘Falling’ into Damien Hirst’s Cherry Blossoms at Cartier Foundation

The Cherry Blossom series was made with thick brushstrokes, and they reference the art movements Impressionism and Pointillism, as well as Action Painting

Damien Hirst said that the “The Cherry Blossoms are about beauty and life and death.” He wanted these paintings to be so big that you can fall into them, and become one with them

We headed outside in nature to feel fully inspired, and made our very own cherry blossom painting

We learnt about complimentary colours and got creative using acrylic paint, and explored different techniques with brushstrokes.

We left the Cartier foundation feeling cool, calm & creative

As well as more knowledgable about Damien Hirst and what cherry blossoms represent, essentially, a rebirth.
